What do I need to form a company?
- There needs to be a minimum of one person to be a director. A Company Secretary is not necessary unless you wish to have one.
- You need to choose a name for your company which is not already being used by another Limited company. Our formation process lets you search to check for an available name.
- You need an address for the company. You can use your own address, or our formation process will give you the option to use a prestigious London business address from where your mail will be forwarded to your own address.

This technology also allows for the directors of the company to file their information direct with the registry online and to submit future official documents online such as Annual Returns. One step of our company formation process will ask you to provide the information which you would like to use as your personal 'digital signature' to identify you in the context of future electronic filing for the company you are forming. This is part of the new electronic filing system which Companies House now uses and which may in time make the old paper based system a thing of the past.
The new electronic filing system used for your company formation will ask you to enter three answers to questions which will be used in future to identify you. As an example one of the questions asked is the first three letters of the name of the town in which you were born. If the answer to this question is, for example, Manchester, then your answer will be "MAN". There are two other questions of this type and all three are used similarly to a pin or password code when you make future filings for your company online with Companies House.
